• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Much of the 300-400 Mhz band is used for aeronautical and satellite communications as well as radio navigation. You can't just talk anywhere at will. There are a few slots available for fixed and mobile use.

I would check with Industry Canada to find out what frequencies in this band they would be willing to grant a license for. Then pick up a radio capable of those frequencies.

I am involved in a project that we may be building a private Comm center type area for large disasters that our goal is for the properly licensed people to be able to transmit and receive on almost every frequency band possible.

We are looking for some ideas on good transceivers that are not to costly that covers the entire 300mhz band. Any recommendations ?

First, you need to better define what you consider the 300 MHz band. A "band" starts somewhere and ends somewhere else. Start here:

http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/smt-gst.nsf/eng/sf10759.html#t2

Once you figure out the open frequencies you can check on licensing.

When you start broadcasting on a radio, you will no longer have a "private" comm center. Everyone with a scanner in range will hear everything you say.

p.s. This will probably be moved somewhere else because it has nothing to do with Amateur Radio.

So your not going to define your needs. You just want something that works "DC to light". That link I provided was created by your "government officials". Did you ask them what frequency bands you would be operating on? They should be the one's with the answers and the recommendations.

You need to do far more research. You haven't given us anything to go on.

What kind of coverage do you need?

Do you need radios that only do voice or can also handle data transmissions?

What kind of antennas are you going to be using?

How do you know that the radios you purchase interface with the encryption and private communication system that they provide?

That's just a chip though, not a full radio.

Actually there are some flea powered devices allowed in the 300 Mhz band. (My car's key fob remote operates at 315 Mhz). Some garage door openers operate in that area as well.

The chip is designed for those applications.

Can you blame him? You tried to qualify his requirements and give him information. Shame on you. ;d

Apparently he didn't want that, he just wanted you to give him a link to the object of his desires, on sale on amazon.

I don't get it. Knowledge is an ocean, incredibly deep and vast beyond imagining, but if you dive in you will never drown. Despite that, some people refuse to even dip a toe into it.

It was a very Nand-like maneuver, since he redacted the posts, I have no idea what was posted.

Since the OP has decided to delete his text I'll assume he no longer wants assistance. Therefore, before this gets out of hand with silliness, I'm closing it. (we have enough silly threads).
