The manual calls for the AC adapter to be plugged into the radio before plugging it into line voltage. What is the reasoning?

The manual calls for the AC adapter to be plugged into the radio before plugging it into line voltage. What is the reasoning?

This should be done with every electrical device. If you plug it into the wall first the line is "charged" and you will get a tiny spark inside the jack each time you do it. Over time this may damage the jack and the plug.
