The Eton Elite Executive is apparently discontinued and is on sale. I always thought it looked dated and was way overpriced. Now that it can be found for a song, I’m conflicted. Although it’s an old design, reviews on it over the years are positive. It uses re-chargeable AA’s which are included, and also comes with an AC adapter. But it still doesn‘t get my interest up. 🤷‍♂️

Those who have this radio, what do you say about it? Why should I buy it/not buy it?

Seem to recall that it suffers from soft muting
Well, although it’s an “old” model, from what I can see it’s a digitally tuned, so I suppose it does have that. On the other hand, dsp chip receivers do tend to be sensitive.

It does soft mute, but not as badly as others.
I've had one several years now, and it still gets daily use. I have it hooked up to a 200' ground loop, and it consistently gets DX very well. It's slightly beaten by my RT-860 with an MLA-30+, but not by much. I listened to RNZI for several hours last night on 17.675 and 13.690 with nice audio for the music shows. SSB works well also; I keep HFGCS, et al., programmed in it.

I got a pair of the pocket Elite minis when I ordered mine. They were nice to have after Beryl last year.

I’m seriously considering one of these before they’re gone. Maybe I just need to admit I’m a collector.

I just got one for my birthday last Saturday. It seems to be a "more premium" radio than my Tecsun pl 330 and it performs slightly better than the pl 330. I am very happy with mine.

Hi, my name is Mark and I’m a radio addict…

Alas, yesterday I succumbed to temptation and made an offer on eBay for a new Eton. $43, about $50 with tax and shipping.

I’m blaming Andre from the SWL channel on Youtube, who told me “you can never have too many radios.” I love his channel but I feel he’s enabling my addiction.

Mind you, as far as I can tell, the Eton has no features I don’t already have on one of my current receivers. Still, I’m looking forward to it.
