Turned on my scanner and heard what sounded like "311 in Progress from Seattle Fire. NEVER heard that before. Maybe I misheard...

Reminds me of the time I turned on the scanner and heard "mayday, mayday!" from the fire department. Then I heard it again, then again they were training.

I haven't a clue about Seattle radio codes, but here in California, a "311" refers to California Penal Code Section 311 which deals with obscene material.

211 = 2 alarm fire, 311 = 3 alarm fire etc. In other words, an incident requiring more equipment and manpower.
