• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hello All: I am sure the power company is hanging their hat on the fact that underground lines will soon be installed. Not requiring any more costly maintenance or repairs.

Since I have a noise free RF environment, I have absolutely NONE to Zero skip stations in there. Tuning in on the lower ham bands again quiet except for the Zoo frequency on 75 meters.

When the skip has been coming in I can hear stations in there talking but they don't even move the S-Meter and are neck and neck with the receivers noise level, then at times a station comes crashing in at S3 to S5. But the last few nights just hearing Crickets in the background!

I think the same Jay. They aren't going to do anything until the lines have been placed underground. Hopefully it works as it should! As for the DX, I have had better luck with long distance locals that I normally don't hear as due to the noise level. The other day it was quiet. No noise issues and floor noise was almost non existent. Was able to speak to some people that I normally can't hear at all. Was nice. Also talked with a few of my close to home locals as well. Good stuff. One DX contact out of Arkansas!! That was about it! Haven't been on since. That was Sunday during the morning around 10-11 EST. Anyways, good time for local stuff if you have any! As far as the DX goes, it's not coming back like it was a couple years ago. Let's just say that. Not for a while anyways.

Hello All: Gettin ready..... Rodger Dat! "Negative Red Rider the pattern is full"

One of the areas I like to hear is the South Pacific stations, usually these are low power stations with just a Dipole antenna and just aren't on all the time. These stations barely squeak into the So Cal area as the Big Straps back east are also on. So you can't hear them with a Omni directional antenna, you half to have a beam antenna to reject the east direction stations to hear the South Pacific Stations.

Last night Australia and New Zealand came in about 3 to 4 S-Units above the quit noise floor.
