Thanks for getting my scanner up and running earlier guys. I have a question about Scanning Trunked. I had a whole lot of local freqs, reg and trunked but I noticed it never would stop on the trunked systems. I deleted everything and just put in a few local trunked freqs (NJSPand Cherry Hill) and I still don't get any hits.

1. Maybe I have to change a setting since everything is default right now fresh out of the box?

2.Also, do I have to erase all my freqs every time I just want to monitor a few specific ones, since I don't want it to scan all the freqs all I know how to do right now is delete everything and load the 3-4 specif freqs I want. Then delete everything again and load the whole group of south jersey freqs. I looked though the users manual disk but its pretty hard to understand. Maybe I just need to study the hell out of it for hours. I wish they had a class I could take on it.

I can't tell exactly what you're having trouble with. You have to create a system, with a site, with a group, that has TGs of interest. It is easiest done from the database on this site.

If you get the system and site information correct, you can press Hold while scanning that system. You should hear digital noise and after a few seconds, you will see a SID number on the top of the screen and see ID numbers in the second line. Once you see that you can move on to the TG settings.

when u see it scanning the trunk systems/banks do u see a freq below the ID SCAN/ID SEARCH and above the S0 *******... that means you got the control channel.. if u dont see that the freq is too

thinking of that if your sacnner is in ID SCAN mode it will only get the talk groups u programmed in.. hit scan to make it go into ID SEARCH

Ok guys trunking is working now two questions I just can’t figure out:
1. How do you assign Trunked systems a quick key. The menu for free scan if different for trunked systems and there is nowhere to pick the # you want.

2. I had to switch from MOT type II/p25 to p25 Standard (396xt). I couldn’t hear any NJSP trunked transmissions until I did this. So I assume everything it says MOT type II/P25 by default I should switch it? When my scanner is on scan mode it won’t stop even if the transmission is loud and clear I have to manually stop it and rotate the knob. This only happens with the P25 Standard....Weird. I lowered my Squelch all the way but still it just passed right though them.

You don't assign QKs to the system. You assign them to the sites under the system.

2. I couldn't really follow how you had NJSP (is that New Jersey State Police?) in the scanner. But, if it is State Police, they don't use a P25 system. That system needs to be programmed as Motorola Type 2 800 Mhz Standard.

If your using Freescan to program your scanner, you may want to look at Scotts file located here:
