396t no audio

my 396t went deaf, no audio comes out the speaker or headphone jack, tried scanning wx channels with no luck either, hooked it up to bctool but did not see anything unusual. It seems to scan ok just no audio. Has this happened to anyone before and what is the fix?

My speaker recently died too, butt he headphone jack still works.... Weird!

Sound like an audio amplifier failure. That will require a service replacement.

The second one sounds like a speaker failure, which will also require service.

Same thing happen to me I sent it back to Cow Town to get it fix today

Yesterday driving home, my audio started getting really distorted like I was out of range, but my local area is so loud and clear, I can take my antenna off and still get reception..... it went from that to no sound at all in short order. Even the keypress beep that usually sounds when I activate the backlight stopped. So later I try again with earbuds its working..... now I just had the output of my scanner going to my pc line in with a headphone cable, it was fine yesterday, today now the headphone jack is following the footsteps of the speaker. Guess the amp is going bad :/

How long have these things been out? I see I ordered mine on March 31st so I probably had it around the first week of April.... Not even 3 full months.


Anyone know the turn around time on getting repairs? Or what the approx cost is?
