I finally ordered a 396T, I should have it by Tuesday.

Is there any MUST have software for the Uniden 396T, like the RS Pro 96 (Win96)

I believe the 396 comes with a full version of the Uniden programming software. Others seems to swear by Butel's programming software, ARC396.

I'd try the Uniden version first, since the price is right (free).

Also, there is a free program by Scannerbase for the 396 for data and audio logging:

I personally prefer Uniden's product - UASD
It's free via download from Uniden's website.

ARC is runner up, but I only have the basic version.

Do any of the software packages (Uniden, ARC396, or AVC) support import of RR database info like Win96 does? I know at least one of them supports copy/paste, but, as a newbie, pulling everything for my county was a great help when I had a Pro96.

Yes, ARC396 supports the RR database import of trunk systems and soon also conv. systems.

Yeah, I registered and donated back in Aug, when I bought the Pro 96, but today was my first post.

You might be hearing from me if I run into any troubles! (I saw your last FF PM to me - thanks for the offer.)

I just got a UPS Quantum notification with delivery expected tomorrow - via ground shipment. For an order placed less than 4 hours ago, I'm impressed! Unfortunately, I may not be home to sign for it, but I'll pick it up on the way home Thursday.

With the internet and all the cool toys, er, hobbies, it's darn easy to spend money these days.

Gommert - I just gave the manual a look through. Nice documentation! That's always a good sign. I've D/L'd a trial copy, but I suspect you'll be getting an order from me soon.

Well, I write software for a living, and I absolutely detest writing documentation, so I figure anyone who does a good job at it, should here about it.
