Overall, yes.... The decoding is better on the XT in my opinion. The biggest feature it has in this department is that you can flag a frequency/talkgroup as analog only, digital only or mixed. Flagging a talkgroup as digital only helps get rid of the 'motor boating' that the 396 has when the speaker turns on before the scanner can decide if the transmission is analog or digital. Kind of a cruddly way of doing it (considering the GRE radios don't have this problem) but it works none the less. There are some other nice bells and whistles in the XT over the T as well.
