Hi. I have a BCD396XT scanner. Ive had it for a long time. The 2 freqs im trying to scan are 155.955 and 154.875. These cut in and out of reception it's simulcast. Are these simulcast freqs? If they are ill have to purchase the sds100. The links are below with fcc license. Thanks. Please lmk with info you know.

These are not 'simulcast sites' in the sense of what you'd be dealing with on a trunked system.

Frequency 155.955 is licensed for one transmit site on the license you linked, KNDT265. However, there are two additional licenses for that frequency in your county. KRH341 shows two sites. There are additional locations on license WREK281.

Frequency 154.875 has four transmit sites, all on license WPFZ700.

Normally, multiple sites on a conventional (non-trunked) system do not cause the issues that Simulcast sites do on a trunked system. Are these "cutting in and out" on a specific interval, like every (pick a number, 2? 3? 4?) seconds? If so, then you have something enabled on your scanner causing that. It could be conventional channel priority, weather priority, or Close Call. Make sure that none of hose are activated. If you have a very good, strong, signal, you might try using attenuation on that specific frequency, If the issue is being caused by interference from other devices (such as your broadband modem, PC, printer, or in some cases, certain lighting systems), you can try to shield the scanner from that, or try setting the IFX to a different value for that specific frequency. Instructions to do that can be found in the Easier to Read manual for your scanner.

Nope. Just regular scanning mode. Ive tried what the first post said to do as well and it's crackily. Some transmissions i can make out, others i cant.
This could be due to interference from something. What? Who knows as yet.

Try taking the 396XT "for a ride" in your vehicle. See if, at a different location, your reception problems change. Better? Worse? Aout the same? That could at least give you an idea as to whether interference, from something, is the root cause of the problems.

And, of course, the 396XT is an older radio… maybe it’s time to upgrade… dedicate the 396 to certain channels/frequencies that do work and purchase another newer model. My next step would be to find someone local that’s running a BCD325P2 (a radio that does not address simulcast issues) and ask them to see if they are having the same problems as your 396XT is having, both radios side-by-side. It would help determine if your scanner is deficient. Or, if you have the money, go for the SDS100.

I did have the 325p2 and it did the same thing. Got rid of it because of that and got a full refund.

Ive tried that too. I found my xts2500 and it works for these 2 freqs. So im using the xts2500 from now on i guess
