Is anyone having issues with the provoice transmissions dropping out? I find it affects 10% of traffic that has drop outs even with full signal coverage.

My guess is that its the scanner as the other party is never asked to repeat their broadcast.

I did manually change from Auto to NFM on the trunking settings.

Have confirmed that I am running the latest FW.

Anyone else?

I had a problem similar losing the odd few words on provoice transmissions while listening to Ecomm, Check wether priorty scan is active. I turned it off and it seemed to improve reception, also my mode was set'to FM.

Turning off weather priority doesn't improve reception, exactly. When WX Pri is enabled, the scanner must tune to the WX freq every 5 seconds to check for an alert. You are hearing the break in audio when it makes that alert check.

Yes - I too would suggest trying FM rather than NFM.

Hi,

I changed it to NFM to over come the issue which is hasn't done.

The WX alert is not enabled and that would cause it to check at consistently timed intervals. My issue is not consistent at all.

I see that Unman replied but would be great to know if there is a future firmware release that might identify and resolve issues like the one I am having. My UP?

Check to see if Close Call Priority is enabled (FUNC AVOID). That will also cause interruption in reception. I've had a few media clients that inadvertently did that with the 996. It's easy to do on that radio.

I don't think I have that had that issue at home but I have experienced the provoice audio breaking up while mobile (full signal, outside mounted 800 MHz antenna). Like you, the dispatcher or officers/fire fighters are never asked to repeat their last transmission.

Maybe there is some multipath/reflection issues.

What I am experiencing on Harrisonburg/Rockingham, Virginia's system is a little different, but not as bad. The transmission sometimes drops out at the end... missing maybe the last 1/10 of a second. So the very end of the last word sometimes is cut from the reception.

I've noticed occasional choppy/garbled transmissions on the system I monitor:

Albuquerque / Bernalillo County Trunking System, Albuquerque, New Mexico - Scanner Frequencies

I also am fortunate that the vehicle I drive for work is equipped with a Harris ProVoice radio, programmed for the same system. Not surprisingly, reception on that radio is far better. Given the circumstances, I think my 436HP does a good job on this system.

What I've found is that when a transmission is choppy/garbled on the 436HP, it's most often on the Officer side. Dispatch is almost always clear and almost never requests a "10-9."

I am still get this while even listening at home. The CC feature is disabled and have all the signal bars lit up with maybe -90db coverage at my place.
