BCD436HP/BCD536HP: 436 Questions/programming.

So I just got my 436 yesterday and today is the first full day of playing around.


I programmed my 436 with the uniden software. It's good. I have noticed however, certain TG's that are programmed are not talking but on my 996xt they are active. It shows they are programmed but nothing shows up, even though for the p25 site I get max bars on it.

Next, for my favorite lists I have quick keys programmed for the systems, and then for the departments as well. I figured out how to turn the systems on and off, but can't figure out how to turn off the departments. I read the easier to read manual but I am still lost.


Also, can I have it set to record only certain TG's?

One of the main causes for what you are seeing is that you don't have the appropriate service types enabled. By default, only Law, Fire, EMS, and Multi Dispatch service types are enabled.

You cannot selectively record.

Assuming you have quick keys on everything, Fav list, system and departments, its a simple . My fav list is 50. My county trunked system is 10. My depts within the county system are 1 - 12. So if I wanted to turn on or off dept(group) 3, I would type 50.10.03. That tells fav list 50 system 10 and dept 03

I am not sure about any of the record options as of yet..

Make sure the service types for the TG's you aren't hearing are turned on.

For recording, you record what plays. I selectively pick out what is going to be scanned and then turn on recording.

It is probably not what you were considering.

You cannot select which talkgroups or whatever will record and then just scan everything like on a GRE scanner, just recording some of what plays.

If you think about it this makes sense. You are going to miss a lot of things while its scanning/receiving the non record items because no scanner records things its not actively receiving/playing.

You can, however, sort the recordings on your PC and only play back particular channels.

I have my main county as 0, the next as 1, then 2, then 3, then 4. So I just pressed 0 (system) then 3 (Group) and it didn't accept it.

But when I press function I see

SO: 0
DO: 0-1-2-3-4-5



I got the service types worked out now.
