Hearing a lot of comms now on the old Union County freq 460.100, pl 162.2. Sounds like it is Union County but can't confirm. I know this was the old hotline but I now never hear any hotline bolos like they had before the trunked system. Anyone got any info? Thanks.

Might be Scotch Plains PD. They are having repeater problems and used the FD repeater for last night and borrowed County radios this morning.

Union County PD

I was wondering myself what's going on with 460.1000. It used to be the hotline as said before but now I never hear county alarms broadcasted over this channel. I know UCPD is trunked, but don't they and surronding towns within the county still use this channel?

I don't monitor it, but I bet they're using SPEN-1 for alerts.

Jellis65, yeah, it could be SP PD. It sounds a little like their system used to.....very tight, not loud, audio. Will be keeping an ear out for more.

It is Scotch Plains PD using that frequency temporarily. Each town has a base on the trunked system with a talk group assigned to the County Crime Hotline. It used to be simulcast on 460.10 but it may not be anymore.

I definitely gotta give it a listen. I do know that in the recent past, they still have a morse code indentity "beep" which prooves the repeater was still operational. I'm assuming that every PD in Union County has 460.100 programmed as one of the channels in their radios, just in case a problem occurs, i.e. Scotch Plains. HOwever, all countywide crime alerts (and I believe statewide crime alerts as well) are paged out on SPEN 1 (154.680). Union County mutual aid uses 453.150 (however their signal has become quite weak this past year from where I live).

Now, Union County has another frequency that they are licensed to (453.050) and I never hear a PEEP on that frequency anymore. Maybe someone else has more info on that frequency?? I don't even know if that repeater is still up. Another frequency that's NOT in the radio reference database for Union County is Springfield Twp. OEM, which aside from the county radio sytem, uses their Ham repeater, 147.505 MHz.

Scotch Plains PD still on county 460.10 as of 1800 hrs. They are still having problems with 470.4625 . They sounded great using the county's radio's but when the used it on their own system "forget about it"

For whatever reason, Scotch Plains is using the old Union County police "Hotline" frequency.

Crime alerts are now transmitted over Union County's trunked radio system. Each municipal police department in the county now has one of the county's trunked radios in its communications center for transmitting/receiving crime alerts.

Union County still maintains 460.100 for "interagency police communications" and encourages its use by municipal police departments for mutual aid purposes.

Crime alerts are not transmitted over this radio frequency anymore and it has remained, for the most part, unused.

Crime alerts may be transmitted from their County EDACS system, however they are also transmitted on SPEN 1. You can't go wrong with SPEN 1 programmed in your scanner no matter where you travel in Jersey for emergency monitoring purposes, even if you have nothing else programmed in your scanner. NJSP (North, Central, and South) also have access to SPEN 1 for emergencies/crime alerts. To be more detailed, they actually have access to all SPEN channels, however rarely use channels 2-4.

I think even t hough the county is trunked, every department still has a SPEN radio as well as the cars. Remember SPEN 2 is the NATIONAL POLICE FREQUENCY I think every police deparment in th e country, regardless of what kind of primary radio system they use has at least one radio on that frequency as well as the VTAC and the UTAC channels
