The clock and display issues were fixed about 2 years ago. Serial numbers with Z7 and Z8 are safe. Earlier numbers can be repaired for free by Uniden if the backlight or RTC battery fails.

What is more ridiculous about Uniden & their product recalls for the BCD*36 line of scanners is that I just contacted them today, 3/12/2018, nearly one & a half years later from my purchase of the BCD536HP; I provided them my serial number off the back of my scanner to ask & see if my scanner was included or part of the BCD536HP recall & they could not even tell me a direct YES or NO with that information provided being the serial number!!

This is what Uniden wrote back to me: "We do not have any sort of list of scanners. If one of the issues we have a repair campaign for presents itself we fix it."

There is no recall. There is a repair campaign for those units that are affected by one of the issues. Not all units will exhibit the issue. If your display backlight is dimming or the clock battery is not holding, then it is subject to the repair campaign.

The old board doesn't use that type of battery.

Tho old 436 boards do not have anything that looks like a watch battery--no silvery cylinder/disk soldered to the board. The new board does, not far from the GPS jack. That and the lack of pads for C1 are how you can tell the board version.
