That's a sign your card is going bad. Time to get a new one.

How can I reformat the SD card

You will need an SD card Reader for this to work
1. Take you card out of your BCD536HP and put in an SD Card Reader on your computer
2. Copy your BCDx36HP folder to your PC
3. Reformat you SD card using a tool like "SD Card Formatter" - (you can download it for free @ SD Memory Card Formatter for Windows Download - SD Association )
4. Copy back the BCDx36HP folder from your PC

You will probably be better off with a new high endurance type card, I am using https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XWN9Q99/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (Samsung 32GB EVO this link also has an option for a Card Reader also)

That's not a high-endurance card. "10 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY: 10 year limited warranty does not extend to dashcam, CCTV, surveillance camera and other write-intensive uses; Warranty for SD adapter is limited to 1 year "

Actually I've had that happen several times in what I think were GPS dead spots. Consistently going up the NYS Thruway around the Coxsackie exit I got just that. Turned the radio off and back on again with no issues.

Losing the GPS satellite fix won't make the scanner suddenly go "Nothing To Scan", lock up or reboot, at least with any recent firmware version. The scanner location just stops updating--it continues to uses the last fix it got successfully. In addition to scanning with GPS while driving, I've connected and disconnected external GPS units dozens, if not hundreds of times, and never had the scanner stop scanning.

There may be erroneous location data for that area (too small of a service radius for something) that causes "Nothing To Scan", but rebooting isn't the fix, driving out of the error area is the fix.

And that doesn't explain why the OP has the error pop up at home.

4. Copy back the BCDx36HP folder from your PC

All good advice! Now, I travel a lot and Murphy's Law usually tags along, so:
along with the above, I save a copy of the folder to a flash drive as well as my laptop
then write a backup SD card that I stash. Extra 32GB HD card ran around $12.00 IIRC
I do this every time I write a new Favorite list or modify an existing one; it paid off last Sept. when my
536 ate a card while en route to CT from NV. Pulled into a rest area, swapped cards and was back in business.
Rewrote the original card at my next stop and it hasn't failed since.

Hope this helps, and like others have posted here, buy the best card(s) you can afford and save yourself a world of grief!

May Santa be generous to you all this coming Wednesday!

The customer review of the high endurance card has 14% that says that the card failed prematurely and the reviews for the standard extreme card gave 10% a review that says that the card failed in a short time. Get a second card as a backup as you do not record with a HD video source anyway and it seems to be pure luck if a SD card holds up or not for a longer time just writing extremly low speed data in a scanner.

I have a standard SD card in my dashcam recording two HD video 1080 streams every day for 2 years and have the original Uniden card in the HP-1 scanner that's been recording daily for 10 years.

How can I reinstall to my new SD card
If you are installing a new card, or reusing a previous one after formatting to clear errors, use the Clear User Data under the scanner drop-down menu.
78361

That sets the card back up to use with your scanner, and copies the database to the card as well. Once you have used that tool, then select Write to Scanner to get your profile and selected Favorites lists back on the card.
