Local Burkesville PD went to digital so unplug the analog Bearcat and pluging a new 536HP and thought all would be good. Looking at Radio Ref data base I'm not seeing anything about being trunked or anything else that would lead me I need something else. The Frequency 155.6100 and Lic WPFK862 can someone advise what am I missing?

Yes Burkesville Police and Cumberland County Sheriff are now NXDN conventional. Same frequency they used in Analog mode, 155.6100.

Thanks, how can that be seen by looking around. I came across the NXDN but did not understand if that did or did not have anything to do with them. How can it be determined for future reference?

You need to purchase the NXDN upgrade from uniden if you don’t already have it for your 536HP. It’s doesn’t not come by default

You can purchase the NXDN upgrade key for your BCD536HP by logging into my.uniden.com. The FCC database verifies they are licensed for NXDN. Click on the 155.61 frequency with FB2 station class. 4K00F1E and 8K30F1E are emission types for NXDN. ULS License - Public Safety Pool, Conventional License - WPFK862 - Cumberland County 911 - Frequencies Summary (fcc.gov)

Thanks I have ordered the NXDN, but can anyone tell me where in the FCC Lic it states NXDN or is it one of things you just know from looking at it?

4K00F1E
8K30F1E

These are FCC emissions for NXDN48 and NXDN96 aka Very Narrow and Narrow NXDN mode. These will not always reflect what an agency is actually using however, I can tell you for a fact they are using NXDN now 😉

OK Thanks, its one of those things a novice like me would need a reference book I guess. Worked for DoD for many years and there was always a book to explain the numbers. Nothing is ever easy I guess

Are you programming by hand or using sentinel software?

If you entered the frequency by hand, it probably used the default "Custom 1" as service type. Make sure that you have Custom 1 Service type active.
Thank you, I've spent many hours reading the manual, watching vids, all kinds of things just trying to understand what is needed.

What is custom 1 and how is that done?

I would make it simple. Press "Channel", them enter "155.61", then "Channel" again. This takes out service types, scan lists and whatever out of the equation. Is it possible they are encrypted?

I'll give it a try
I asked before buying the scanner and dispatch says its not. Were in the country and analog sig was not going far enough. Found out after buying I needed NXDN. Can get State police, EMS and many others without issue, is just local PD I'm missing.

I did select "serv" and scroll to custom 1 but it wouldn't let me change it. Reading the manual which is not clear for this guy, neither was the upgrade firm ware but I did get it upgraded

They are not encrypted.

I would recommend you download sentinel if you have a computer and watch some of the K4DPS YouTube videos on this model.

I haven’t used a scanner in quite sometime, however, when I had a 536 I had an issue with Service Types disabled by default.

You can also program via zip code

Sentinel still has them as analog.

I've watched the vids and agree sentinel has not been any help
I've read thru a setup listing to copy NXDN to note pad then copy to favorites and I'm not getting it I guess, because it didn't work the way it said.

This is what I copied from it
Cumberland County 911 100FB2 PW - 155.610000 NFM Digital Code Search Custom 1 Off 1sec Off Red / On 0 None Off
Cumberland County 911 40MO PW - 155.610000 NFM Digital Code Search Custom 1 Off 1sec Off Red / On 0 None Off

Prior I did use channel for 155.61 but when it came on it was just noise.
Reset to factory default and loaded NXDN and that was with todays postings

I have used channel and reprogrammed 155.610 and waiting to see if it works
