6Mike 0 (insert number here) (insert number here) would be an unmarked
6Mike 70? would be marked

Both units could be marked or unmarked.

The softid generally doesn't give you a clue as to whether the unit is marked or unmarked.

In some cases, you can make an educated guess like a 800 unit would be a boat which are generally marked.

Most of the time when herd a "traffic/unmarked" unit in lambton it was most of the time a unmarked crown vic or impala (at the time when lambton had a few). But few times iv herd a "unmarked" unit going down the road not to far infront of me and it was a marked white cvpi.
Maybe the officer jumped out of a unmarked into a marked.. But who says they cant do traffic enforement from a marked car?

Here in Zone 2, i hear an OPP officer log in and say he will be for example.. "3r603" or something similar, and the comm center will respond and say that ID has already been taken, and offers him another ID such as "3r604". Has anyone else heard this type of response before. Which makes me believe that the ID is not always the same, but perhaps given out in a sequential order to the first person who logs in, even though he or she might have had a different one the day before. Once that ID is logged off it becomes available for the next officer that follows that classification of log in. This is just an assumption on my part, perhaps someone can clarify or give more information

Jammin_Jay,

that is quite a regular occurance, I think the officer requesting an ID is unaware the ID is in use, so you hit it on the head, they give him another ID.

I have heard an officer log off, and somebody request to be switched to that ID as well
(I want number 3 coach...).

lets not forget the dark green and dark blue dodge minivans that the smokies use on the roads also. I have seen them pulling people over and and an OPP gets out

The Alpha units are listed the same Province Wide...as mentioned with the 3 zone

The lead number is the Region # , alpha is a regional unit (but can be based anywhere in region).

All numbers are consistent province wide, this ensures if there is a huge problem over lapping regions would not have to guess at a unit number......ie 6A061, 5A061, 4A061, 3A061, 2A061 and 1A061 would all be K9 units in their respective regions.
001 = detach commander
002 = sgt
003 = sgt
004 = sgt
005 = court officer
007 = media officer
02X - 03X = traffic units
04X = Ident
06X = K9
09X = paid duties, special detail
1XX = zone 1
2XX = zone 2
etc
7XX = first nations
8XX = marine units

What would be 07X ? I heard a Alpha 070 id just now on a traffic stop.

Just heard a Juliet 067 unit log on, and she stated she was with the crime unit. So 06x's may be crime unit. The list above shows the 06's to be K9, so I'll keep an ear for the local K9 units and see what ID's they are using these days.

They get a tac channel. Herd them few times last week.
Their call sign is . Sierra 1, Sierra 1 Alpha, Mike 1, Lima 1, Echo 1.
Dont know who they are butlast time they said something about a transport and they were clear of something in london. I think its a prison transport escort or something along them lines?
They were also talking about getting radios from someone too last week.

From what I've heard in the past, those call signs belong to the TRU team.

For the last 2 weeks they have been using Tac 3 to move the prisoners downtown and monitor the court house. Usally action starts about 7am and goes until about 6pm.

This is for the preliminary hearing for the bikers involved with Shedden murders.

In the Whitby area 08x units are traffic units looking after Zone 3. Zone 3 is Durham Region north that comprises of Scugog, Uxbridge and Brock Townships.
