Hello, purchased an r-75 and a alpha-delta dx-swl I think i am in the real world of hf monitoring now at last. Any comments on the anntenna something better? I like to leave it on 6215usb last night bommin chatter then faded sounds like boat captains and last week boat w/engine trouble just askin where they could be located if anyone monitors said freq thanks

Welcome to the wonderful world of Shortwave Listening! You have a fine setup just the way it is...just make sure that antenna has some height...the higher the better.
It sounds like some kind of marine channel, but my specialty is HF aircraft monitoring. Sometimes there are bootleggers on ships that spin the dial on their HF rigs and just start yapping away.

Try 4395.0 tonight, it's a USN net. A couple of years ago the Nimitz was on this freq, the Carrier Strike Groups tend to use the same frequencies for exercises.
