I heard VRS04 in Tracy yesterday around the West Valley Mall area broadcasting the White. I was surprised as I drove across the road I ran in to two CHP officers talking to each other with the VHF extender going. I guess there was a third (in a newer car?) getting lunch in the area. First time I've heard it.

I know North Sac still has some of the old cars running the VHF extender.

Add Turquoise Solano on VRS-8 confirmed

I received TURQUOISE - Solano (22 units) on VRS-08 769.46875 while in Dixon/Vacaville area.

Official list:
Gold (Primary) VRS01
Gold (Alternate) VRS10
Black (Primary) VRS07
Black (Alternate) VRS12
Green (Primary) VRS03
Green (Alternate) VRS08
White (Primary) VRS04
White (Alternate) VRS11
Brown (Primary) VRS05
Gray (Primary) VRS02
Gray (Alternate) VRS11

North and South Sac CHP 700 radios will have Sac City and County TG's in them. Several zones worth.

Also, the "CHP700" channels will have the possibility for encryption if the radio user so chooses (and a key is loaded).

Today, for the first time from my place, I heard the TURQUOISE being simulcasted on what I have listed as "WOODLAND RPTR 8 769.4687".

Sounds like the Solano office is making the transition to the new portables. Other Golden Gate Division offices are likely to follow in the next few months.

One Merced officer was so proud of his new unit, giving a tour to a friend of mine. They have at least one new unit complete with the 700 HT in it. Not sure what frequency on 700 that they use here though.

Marin also has at least one unit with the new CPVE equipment in it, but they are still using the old VHF extender frequency.

i HOPE he's proud of it..

that's a 70,000 $ car

47,000 $ JUST for the radios etc

chp always plans their money outlays so thriftily

i bet those other agencies feel slighted only spending 2,000-3,000 for radios

I did hear some traffic yesterday on Gray (Primary) when I was out at Prosser Reservoir behind the AG check/station on my Pro-106.

Maybe it's because it's low band. Probably nothing in stock - have to build it. ;-)

Has nothing to do with low band (the Kenwood radios are off the shelf).
It is the patrol car automation system that integrates up to 5 radios (VHF-Lo, VHF-Hi, UHF, 7/800 and the vehicular repeater) into a single computer that also performs the mobile data function and controls the siren & light package.
