I currently have two of these:

806-960, 10dBi, Terrawave Yagi Base Antenna

from Scanner Master. They are pretty directional, which makes them good for fighting simulcast distortion, if that is what is causing your signals to cut in and out.

I took the good advice here and got the Laird FG8246 -from that good vendor with a good price. I just got it put up less than a month ago, but I am very pleased. I can do an extensive area of an adjacent state on their P-25 system (mountain-top towers) as well as here at home I can get all the action. Since I can get 4 NOAA weather stations with it, I know it works pretty well on some VHF freqs, likewise on UHF PS. I am just using 25 ft of QS RG-6, but seems to do what I need.

How high ya got it ?
Think about getting this to go along with my Wilson 700/800 Yagi and try something different.

Yeah I seen the link.
Was asking how you mounted it.
Attic,roof.
Seen you only have 25 feet of coax so assuming you only have it mounted 15-20 feet from ground.

My Laird is only about 18 ft. high at the mount. I love it, but wish I had gotten the 9 db antenna. My location is pretty good for dx though, getting one tower more that 50 miles out. The return of foliage could change things. It exceeded my expectations. Mounted on a back gable, antenna just clears the roof-line, and I would like to go 10 ft. higher. I have a wrecked scantenna just about 10 ft. higher, and it still has surprising 800 mhz reception. Since that antenna is not very effective at 800 mhz (but the paring from being tree-whipped might have helped) I suspect that particular height would greatly enable the Laird.
I could have better coax, pre-amps , etc., but for a low and unobtrusive antenna, I am very satisfied.

Go to know.
Been thinking about buying and throwing that Omni antenna up for a few months now.
Would just just have to add a cross bracket to my mast to make it a “T” so I can keep my j-pole up and add that Omni to the top position also at 30 feet.
