NLRPD 900 codes

For the past month or so NLRPD have seem to quiet using their 900 codes. Instead of using a 900 code for a certain call they have been using plan english, probly something to do with the new ISO. They even stop saying "10-4", now an officer will say "roger" or "copy", but some slip up and and still say "10-4" but will correct themselfs.

Don't know about Ar but in Tx, the DPS (Department of Public Safety) who is the keeper of the frequency's and radio protocol has told all departments to convert to plane English because of 9/11 and all the inter-department communication problems they had. Some using 10 code, some using signals, and I think a couple using semaphore, (just kidding). Seems like a dumb step but I guess everything counts.

North Little Rock 900 Codes

North Little Rock Police has gone to "plain language" instead of a 10-code based dispatch sytem.

This is part of Homeland Security's attempt at interoperability.

While it is an interesting concept (plain language), many agencies pushed for a universal 10-Code system which was rejected.

Expect other larger agencies to flow this way eventually.
