I can't get this brand new scanner to connect to my PC. I've purchased the keys for the ARC996 software, but when I try to autodetect my scanner, it says its not "turned on". Well it definitely is. I have checked the baud rate settings too, and they match.

Any suggestions??

Thanks

Are you using the front or rear port of the 996?
Also goto menu-settings-set serial port-front or rear-set baud rate.(on scanner)
I can't remember if they come turned on or not.
Also check the port that you are using and make sure it is set for com 1,2,3,4 (on comp)

I am using the front port. I have adjusted the baud rates multiple times. As for the computer...I am assuming it is already set up. How would I go about making sure the data port is set to com1, com2, com3 etc...?

Autodetect will 'scan' all available com ports so that setting is not critical.
If the 996 is properly connected autodetect will find it. Just make sure that the frontport is not set to 'Off' but a baudrate is selected.

How is the BCD996T connected to the PC, does your PC have a serial com port or are you using a USB cable/converter?
