• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have one more question. How do I enable DTMF on the keypad? I have analog repeaters that take tones and since I upgraded from Moto have been racking my brain on how to and just cant figure it out.

Looked at the help file and searched DTMF...

Channel Profiles > Basic Settings, create an analog profile (if you don't have one already)
Under analog identity > Signaling Type choose DTMF.
Channel Profiles > Analog > DTMF tab > Call Dialing - enable DTMF Call Dialing. Directly under, DTMF Dialing Type should be set to FreeForm or Buffered
From the help file:
  • Freeform – each tone is transmitted immediately as the radio user presses the equivalent key.
The tone is transmitted for as long as the key is pressed.
If this option is selected, only tones 0 to 9, * and # are available.
The Tone Period – 0-9, A-D, Tone Period (*, #), and Intertone Gap Period are the minimum tone and gap periods that will be applied to the dialed sequence. The Lead-In Delay will be applied to any tone dialed when the radio isn't already in the transmit state. To prevent the radio keying down between dialed tones, enter an Intertone Tx Hold Time. The First Tone Period Multiplier and Lead-Out Delay don't apply.
  • Buffered – the sequence is transmitted in its entirety when the Send key is pressed.
The radio will use gap and tone periods as programmed for the DTMF system.
If this option is selected, all DTMF tones (0 to 9, A to D, * and #) are available.
A to D are accessed using a long press of the 2, 5, 8, and 0 keys respectively.

On the channel that you want to send the DTMF on, have you set the correct profile to match your analog profile you enabled DTMF on? Can't think of anything else, but it's been probably 15 years since I've done anything DTMF for a customer.
