Howdy,
Does anyone know what the name (model/part#/anything) of the front programming port on the 996T/996XT/15XT is called? I would like to get a 90degree adaptor to help control the cable to the computer. 996P2 (top scanner) has a nice USB standard connector and was easy to find.

Thank you for the link and name. Maybe they do not make a 90' one, but helps to know the name of it.

Another option for programming and remote control is to use the DB9 on the back of the scanner along with a serial-to-USB cable. (You still must use the front connector for updating firmware.) Here is one option, which is what is needed (null modem, proper gender, FTDI chip). There are lots of others.

I have used the cable that salleno7 mentioned, it works great on the BCT15, BCT15X and all 3 996 series scanners for programming and virtual control.

I have also in the past taken a USB-1 cable and snipped off the Hirose connector and replaced it with a DB9 to use on the back port. It is much more secure, I have a couple older BCT15's and a 996XT with damaged front Hirose connectors.
