When I hit Func and Vol, the display shows "Err: - - -" Dashes, no number. As it scans, the threshold changes constantly. When I "Hold" it fluctuates between 8 and 11 and the three Threshold Voltages vary by about 0.2 volts.

Okay. I turned the attenuator off (no attenuation) and removed the antenna. Down to one bar now. Error rate is still pegged.

Imported the NJ State Police, NJ Transit North, NJ Transit South and JCP&L portions of the file. I am receiving on all three, so the radio appears to be working. Just nothing on Morris County.

The P25 Err Rate meter on the virtual scanner is pegged on everything and the "ERR:" display on the radio is still all dashes, yet the radio is receiving.

I can't be of any more help right now, my apologies. I no longer own an XT scanner, and I never messed with monitoring the error rates of the incoming digitial audio.

I'm tied up right now trying to get DSD4Win to run right on my Windows 8.1 machine. I can't figure out why the hell I'm not getting any audio out...

You have already been a great help! Thank you for the time! I'll keep messing around and see what I can come up with. At least I know the radio is working! :)

Thanks everybody, especially Scott and Rob, Scott, your file worked great. I had not used this for a long time, I noticed the stations dwindling down and there was nothing to listen to. Had to buy a new scanner program cable, and freescan worked fine. Thanks for breathing life back into my old dinosaur. Now I am learning the new id's so I can figure out the different towns. I appreciate all who helped!!

Rob, it's working great. Too bad with all this alphanumeric stuff that the towns don't display on the screen.
That would be really nice instead of having to decipher what you are listening to, especially when you miss part of the conversation. I have been out of the loop, but from what I am reading lately it looks like I should be happy I hear anything at all. I guess the medivac stuff too is all gone now. I plan on riding this scanner out as long as it still works (paid big bucks at the time for it) and now it's close to becoming obsolete.

it is still far from becoming obsolete. the only thing that is phase 2 in our area is the new njics network, and most of those talk groups on there are still phase 1 modulation, which you can use the 996T to monitor. you'll get good life out of it. then when it becomes "obsolete," tap it
and use it with unitrunker or dsd.

it's a great scanner despite being 9 years old.
