The Illinois Starcom system has recently been rebanded. It seems unlikely that the preprogrammed Starcom system would have been brought that recently up to date.

Take a look at the frequencies that are programmed for that system and compare them to what's in the RR database or on the CARMA website.

CARMA Profiles

You may just need to change the frequencies.

I'm close to you, just west of Midway Airport. I delete all my pre-program frequencies and add my own. Delete Site and start from scratch.

* StarCom21 Statewide Illinois P25 Trunking System, Statewide, Illinois - Scanner Frequencies

Look at Sites 1-002 and Site 1-015...those should give you the best chance of getting a solid control channel. You will hear District-Chicago, Dist. 15 (Tollways), Dist. 2 (Interstate 55 between County Line Road & Interstate 355) also I 290 in Dupage county, Dist. 5 (I 55 west of I 355, I 57 south of Volmer), just to give you an idea plus a few other things. I broke District-Chicago into 4 groups, North, Middle (I 55 patrol), South, Administrative, and each of the other Districts has their own group. I use ID Scan, but being new may want to use ID Search. You may want to read up on Talkgroup Priority which is very handy monitoring these sites. Have any questions, their's plenty of answers in the Illinois Forum...good luck,

I should have mentioned that the CARMA site has the Starcom system already set up in ARC-XT format which you can download into ARC-XT and upload to your scanner or you can import it into FreeScan and upload to the scanner from there.
