Sorry to be so brief, but it's a little harder to type out a full post on my phone.

Anyway, I seem to br having a problem with scanning trunked systems. The only one I've attempted in the past is tthe Placer County CIRN system. I had an issue with getting no traffic whatsoever and the signal meter flashing on and off with full bars. I programmed the San Francisco system today and am getting the same issue. Frankly, I have no idea what could be causing this. Is it a problem with my unit, or maybe I'm missing something in the programming?

Help is much appreciated. Thanks!

CIRN seems to be a pretty small system. What you describe is normal if there is no traffic (the SSRI bars blink off during "housekeeping" which occurs about every 2 seconds unless you set the system hold time to a longer value). Confirm you've programmed it as a P25 system.

SF has two systems. I'm assuming you've programmed the Motorola system, not the P25 system. That system has rebanded. Confirm that you have entered the rebanding band plans into a custom band plan table and that the frequencies match what is now in the database.

As far as CIRN goes, it's a simulcast system. I receive PCSO traffic while scanning analog, but not CIRN.

For the SF system, I just programmed it this morning, but did not set up any custom bandplan. I get traffic when scrolling through the list of frequencies, but not when in ID scan

Then for SF, the problem is no custom band plan, so when the scanner gets a channel grant, it goes to the wrong frequency.

For CIRN, see the thread (sticky) about squelch settings.

I programmed the four control channels with an offset of 12.5khz. I think that's correct, but I couldn't find it listed in the DB. Still having the same issue, though.

How do I determine the spacing and offset?

The spacing and offset are as listed in the link provided.

Can you hear the SF system from Placer Co??

And are you using software or programming manually?

lol I cannot hear the SF system from Foresthill. I was in the car and programmed it in by hand.

I was using FeeeScan, but that computer's operating system was *accidentally* wiped.

Also, in the link provided I only see options for spacing/offset. I can't find anything that tells me which ones to use.

I used 12.5 and 380, though, and still no luck.

Haha OK I was just making sure.

Use the table at the bottom of the page. That will work for the SF system.

You don't need to enter the spacing and offset on a true p25 system. The 996xt figures it out automatically from the control channel.

So then there's still the issue of not being able to scan the system. If it would help at all, I can list exactly how I have it set up with the settings, etc.

It might be helpful to read the system out and post the file, here.

P25 systems are (relatively) simple. Just tell the scanner it is a P25 system, create at least one site with at least the current control channel.

When you hold on the system, it should start displaying some information (system ID, site ID). If it does not, then it is possible you simply are not in range.

I have entered all of the frequencies for CIRN listed in the DB into one site, not just the primary and secondary control channels. Is it possible that that may be confusing the system?

When you say "not being able to scan" what is it NOT doing?

Are you getting control channel?
Not hearing any traffic?
Can you hear it in conventional mode?

Unidens have a problem with simulcast trunked systems so it might not be the programming but the scanner itself.
