When I hold on the system I just see the name and flashing signal meter.

I tried that file with no luck a while ago.

The link to the other thread is you and you diagnosed the problem already so I'm confused as to what has changed?

I can hear (for lack of a better term) open squelch on 161.8, which is listed as the primary control channel.

I do not hear any traffic whatsoever.

I receive Placer's conventional system wonderfully.

I took the scanner mobile on Saturday and was still not able to receive anything, even though the conventional system was extremely busy.

As for the other thread—
I thought the problem was solved. I had come to the conclusion that I could not receive the system in my location do to simulcast distortion.
I have begun to doubt that, though, because of my experience taking it mobile on Saturday, as well as the fact that NONE of my programmed trunked systems work.

Taking it mobile changes the dynamics a bit because you're in a differernt location and multipath isn't an issue everywhere.

So being mobile doesn't rule out multipath.

It sounds to me the issue is signal strength. It may appear you a getting a strong signal by the meter, but not enough for the radio to decode anything.

I can't believe that I would be unable to receive the system due to multipath distortion at any point on the drive from Foresthill all the way to the Sac County line when I switched to scanning around the ham bands.

Believe it. Multipath sysyems suck on Unidens. They weren't designed well with regards to those types of systems.

The only truth to your statement is "Multipath sysyems suck". This isn't unique to Uniden radios. So stop saying that.

Uh, I can say whatever I want.

I never said this was Uniden specific. But since this is the Uniden forum and the OP has a problem with his Uniden, we are discussing the multipath issue with UNIDENS.

So If you don't have anything to add other than to troll...we'd like to carry on :)
