One of my first Swl receivers !

Yeah, I drooled over the later version, the DX-160 for years, the Radio Shack catalog even fell open to that page. When I finally got one, I was disappointed with it, but it is a beautiful work of art. It's takes a prize on aesthetics, sort of like the Drake R8, or the NRD 545.

Sadly, ANALOG is starting to become "vintage", so I guess it's time to post one of the most popular analog scanners to ever hit the market. The Realistic PRO 2006 was available in every Radio Shack across the country and was also a favorite for modders as well.

rf_. my very first receiver was a Lafayette Radio Electronics general coverage receiver, HA-230., circa 1963. I had just graduated grammar school. My Popular Electronics "callsign" was WPE2OLR. Used to listen to 160 meter AM. My first ham buddy was, W3DUQ, or as he used to say, "Whiskey 3, Drink Up Quick". Would listen to him rag chew w/his pals throughout the night, on summer vacations...

Ummm.. not greedbay! That's not even the better orange version. I restore old tools also, prices there on all have gone into low earth orbit. Ridiculous. I pretty much can't spend on the addic... eerr.. hobby any more except for CCR's.

I get it, shipping is $60.00. I'd offer him $40.00! :p

My 1st real shortwave set. An Archer Globe Patrol 3 tube regen. I was 16 when I built this kit, and still have it today. I also had to buy the solid state version when it came out.

I hope the tube model worked better than the transistor version.
I did have a bit of an issue with the tube version once I finished it. Not being too sure that I might have messed up somewhere, I took it back to Radio Shack and had the tech look at it. Turned out it had a faulty coil. He replaced it and it worked fine. I felt relieved as well as vindicated. I didn't mess up.

I had no issues with the solid state version, but I do see a difference in reception quality. I haven't played with it the insides though.
