Is there anyone who has used the WiFi feature in Access Point mode? I am quite familiar with the "infrastructure mode" and use that with my IPAD app quite often. However, I have been unable to find the exact instructions for setting up the "access point mode". Seems easy enough to set the dongle to "access point" in the scanner itself, but how do you actually hook up the RH app on computer or the IPAD app?
In Access Point mode, my scanner says Input SSID BCD536HP_00xxxx (my serial number). Can that be changed? When I press enter, says "Open" or "WPA/WPA2" For the latter, there is a default password "Uniden_Scanner" that I presume can also be changed. Shows the IP address as 192.168.1.1
So I figured would just use that address in RH program or IPAD app, but does not connect. Any advice would be appreciated, or directions to a site with the information. Am going away for a few days, will not have private WiFi connection (public at a hotel), but would like to set the 536HP up in a decent location and use the app. Also, does anyone know the distance that the WiFi dongle for the 536HP is good for. Will that reach, say, 20 or 30 feet. I presume some folks are already using AP mode in their cars.
Thank you.

You don't use the RH app on anything other than a PC. For an iPad, you use SIREN. When the scanner is in AP mode, just connect the WiFi to the "network" that contains BCD536HP and use it the same as you did in Infrastructure mode. After you connect to the scanner, you would use the 192.168.1.1 IP in SIREN.

Voyager,
Thanks. Yes, I know about the RH app on PC and iPAD SIREN. The problem I had was connecting using the 192.168..1.1 IP. Then I realized reading your response, duh, I forgot to set my iPAD to the Wi-Fi network with the Scanner SSID. I totally forgot that I have to set the iPAD to the AP SSID. Guess I just learned what most people already know about access points. I suppose the same will be true for my laptop when setting URL for ProScan. Will have to connect to the right SSID.
Anyway, thank you very much for your prompt response. All is now working fine in AP mode.

Glad to hear it's working. It's easy to overlook things when you're new to them.
