I rarely get a sysid pop up when watching stars. I never remember it happening. Just hit scan. Make sure you are in open mode or whatever (see the manual.)

The 96/2096 will miss some traffic but will work with your settings.

Edit: A review of your frequency list indicates you may have an old listing when STARS was building. These are all you need for Easternshore. 151.04750 151.12250 158.85750

The Eastville (Northampton) tower is VA Dept of Forestry used by STARS on the Eastern Shore.
Not sure of any use for 159.1125 in STARS.

STARS does have towers in some of these locations, but apparently not in Melfa.

Some are the same in my previous listing and are not used by STARS though could be used by Forestry.

The FCC database shows the following call signs and frequency assignments for a transmitting site at 23201 Front St., Accomac, Accomack County, VA:
WQFS759 - 159.2625, 159.3375
WQHJ472 - 159.1125
WQHR984 - 159.1125

This transmitter site is north of the current Virginia State Police radio tower in Melfa.

Try scanning the 159.2625 and 159.3375 frequencies in conventional mode and see if you can pickup any transmissions.
