Now you'll note the date doesn't fit, but for about 2 years nothing much has fit right, I dunno if it's intentional or not with the press releases, but I have no doubt that is what you caught. The regimented military airs of the regular army hardly ever come into play. Irritated and sarcastic are the de rigor.
I think I have a terrain issue, cause when this was first reported I went nuts trying to improve my home setup, but they are undoubtably using low power and I just dont think I can get it (without trolling the Uwharries trying to look inconspicuous, which I never do, look inconspicuous). With some high gain car roof setups, early on, from Morrow Mountain I would get brief snippets, ENC, but that was it. I had been betting it was emanating a bit more north and northwest of the Uwharries, based on all the reports, but if you're catching it on River Road that indicates to me it's being used in more than one AO, cause I think the terrain would cause issues to pick it up there and up to the NW areas. They don't have camps set up on the tops of the mountains out there, cause I have gone to check.
Ever since the one that was running right as everyone got skittish with the COVID thing, late Feb early March 2020, all following iterations have been all outta whack, from my POV. All airborne infils stopped completely, at least out this way, (though I imagine they're happening out at Bragg again by now, I just haven't bothered trying to check). But the ubiquitous "westerly airborne infil" shall we say, the highlight opening ceremony, I have seen no signs of since the first "full-on covid" iteration, which has dulled my enthusiasm some. Course I was thinking, well its cause they don't want them all cramped up in a Herky Bird or a CASA, social distancing and all, and JFKSWCS even put out this big press release "our killas are observing all the proper protocols to staunch transmi....." blah blah blah, and after that go-round was over there was a blurb somewhere about how like 96 of 98 students had covid by the end and had to quarantine. Bunch o killas.
There was some stuff I had read about how there was going to be another shake up on how the exercise was run anyway, and it may be that is what's up these days, but before it was like clockwork how things played out, first Sat night Airborne infil, first Thursday event x second Tuesday event y, and a lot of that is still in play but the start and endings seem to be lengthened some. I am pretty sure that's what you caught. That is wild.
