I am kind of wondering if Pineland is currently being attacked. I had to drive down to Charlotte and took the back way I ususally do through the Uwharries on Monday. Heard our old friend 451.800 $167 pop up IN THE CLEAR this time. I could only hear one side of the conversation, but it was a very unhappy "Dark Star" talking to "Watch Tower" about a "Civilian LEO contact" not being somewhere. About a 5 minute exchange but I was driving toward Charlotte and lost them. No other frequencies noted. Glad I keep this stuff in the scan list even though its mostly encrypted.

Which has been suspected more than once on the related thread about 451.800. But surely the Warfare trainees and the Viva La Pineland wouldn't venture into what seems to be Itinerant freqs. with NACS following the Federal interop plan? I suppose anything goes. I do recall seeing UHF Lo (380-420mhz) Apx radios on Seymour Johnson Security / MPs and other base ops folks during the Wings Over Wayne airshow. All that to say, "who knows"?

Exactly, who knows. In some very limited scenarios, I have repeatedly heard FRS 7 used.

"The fish is in the water. I repeat, the fish is in the water".

Cue young MAMs (military age males, but of course) lugging an Igloo cooler across the parking lot, which based on the waddle-walk, must be loaded with lead sinkers.

Turns out you really gotta scan....everything.

I have posted previously about some NGO/Contractors/wannabe soldiers of fortune/meal team six/airsoft graduates, who have licensed these Part 90 UHF Itinerants. It is possible they have those for internal use and also interoperate with Feds, thus likely copy and paste NACS and Radio Id assigned by Feds into their own ops. The Fed encryption key as well shared on their Itinerants by virtue that the radio programming will let you do that. I wish I were up in that area as I would take my DF equipment out and find the rascals.

It certainly seems to be a possible scenario, plenty of circumstantial evidence in that direction. I remember looking thru the licenses I believe you posted and it all had that Xe-Lite smell to it.

The whole thing still mystifies me since from what I can tell this sort of situation hasn't been reported as common, or even existing at all, anywhere but here, where ever that may technically be.

"we are coming from the NW to the W, ......miles from Fayetteville" " is that Wilmington? India Lima Mike?"

"....(garbled callsign) 07, where do you want us to go after Wilmington?"

Perhaps coming from OTIS06? Callsign just being off a digit?

Callout "EPIC31"

Doing the mandatory callout to KVUJ tower while running IR721

" Stanly County Tower, EPIC 31, passing point India on IR721" at 1404h, which KVUJ tower acknowledges.

Sorry I am 99% the above listed freq should be 291.9, not 291.100.

The ole eyes are failing me and the memory ain't much better.

Female, short Tx IDing and coming into land as they are "....training complete.."

Presumably from C-17, EPIC31, 00-0172, Hex: AE0677 to KCLT base, returning from a run on MTR IR721 earlier today.

That run was actually scheduled this morning starting at 1100h local and they hit it right on time, which is to say, they actually ran it during the listed time, which is really the best one can hope for, and not always is the case. One scheduled yesterday did not appear to be run by anyone.

If anyone is interested, currently in the next 24hrs there are three more runs listed:

IRIR721_A_K05/21/2024 19:1505/21/2024 20:45ZJX003080MTR / AR
IRIR721_A_K05/22/2024 02:0005/22/2024 02:45ZJX003080MTR / AR
IRIR721_A_K05/22/2024 17:1505/22/2024 18:00

All times in zulu so -4 for local time ie: 15:15 today is the scheduled start time for the next opening.

The path depicted is what I consider to be a fairly good one for neat pic taking ops, of course they have the latitude to vary it considerably on any run, and some are better than others by a wide margin.

Wish I could have been down by Tillery Dam on this one today tho, they got down to 575ft as they cruised along at a leisurely 370mph.
