• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

2 - G4 pagers running on same site both currently on V2.02 firmware (have tested with v1.35 firmware same results) with encryption key installed. One is monitoring non encrypted talk group and traffic is 99% clear and can be understood. Randomly when monitoring an encrypted talk group that is patched with same traffic the traffic is garbled and the pager acts like it cannot keep up with decoding. 5 minutes later it traffic is clear and has no issues. Am I seeing results of what normally happens with encryption and I am chasing an existing issue? It really does seem that with a pager with full signal strength that it struggles to decode the audio at times.

Just for giggles. move the two pagers physically apart, across the room at least.could be that the IF signal from the clear radio is bleeding into the IF of the encrypted radio.

I will give that a try but it seems to be so random that I can move across room or place touching and maybe 95% of the time it works fine and audio is crystal clear. My gut is this maybe common so trying to decide how far to dig. Trying to open case now with Unication.

Just for the fun of it, check the PPS E7, click on the Zone/Knob where it is programmed, go down to Secure Setting, and make sure it is not checked.

This enable box is checked. If unchecked the pager will not decode any of my encrypted talkgroups as I have verified that in testing.

If checked you will hear the encrypted garble for all encrypted radios, unless you have the appropriate key programmed in using the key loader software.

The key is loaded and it decodes 95% of the traffic with no issues. It is just not consistent and acts like it struggles to decode traffic at times but clears up on the very next transmission usually.
