ADS-B Hardware and Software

This thread is the start of a collaboration of information that will eventually go in to the Wiki. This list is not meant to be all encompassing but to provide what the most common and widely used hardware and software platforms currently available.

Hardware:

MicroADSB: one of the more common affordable decoders. Interfaces via generic Serial over USB. Requires 3rd party software.

miniADSB: another affordable but less common decoder. Interfaces via Serial over USB. Requires 3rd party software.

Mode-S Beast: the best "bang for your buck" decoder. Interfaces via FTDI Serial over USB. Requires 3rd party software.

Aurora Virtual Radar 3D: another decoder similar to the Beast in that it provides a fast processor (permits more decodes and less errors) but interfaces via Ethernet over USB. Comes with its own software.

Kinetic SBS Series: pricey all-in-one decoder packages. Models such as the SBS-1, SBS-2 and the SBS-3, with an upcoming more affordable"blue puck" decoder.

AirNav RadarBox: another all-in-one decoder package.

FlightFeeder: an ADS-B receiver designed to upload data to FlightAware and also make it accessible via ethernet connection.


Software:

PlanePlotter: currently the most popular 3rd party aircraft data decoding software.


Software Add-ons:

SBSplotter: operates by connecting to the common 30003 TCP port to create a propagation map of your current receiver's coverage area.


Antennas:

DPD Productions: indoor and outdoor 1090 and 978MHz antennas
