Does anybody know what latitude and longitude Alberta First Responders Radio Communication System simplex frequencies use, or can I just use my town’s location info for Taber Alberta ?

Simplex is line of sight communications. If you need something more you could use a local area CET Group.

Pretty sure the OP's question is related to location based scanning. You would be surprised just how far 7/800MHz simplex works, especially using digital voice.

Simplex needs or requirement is a randomized thing. No setting of lat/long in the scanner will make a fig of difference.
If it's FD, maybe once in a blue moon. Police, same thing, but RCMP favour ENC.
You might hear your local fire hall on a given weeknight, doing training using simplex.

There are 5 simplex channels that are licensed by AFRRCS that any approved public safety user can add to their existing license by adding the O5 appendix with ISED. They are mandated by AFRRCS to use NAC $293 and be unencrypted.

STARS prefers using simplex (700MHz or VHF depending if the FD doing the landing zone ops is on AFRRCS or VHF) for their landing zone ops. FD's can use them for fire ground ops.

I have the simplex channels programmed into a conventional not trunked bank on my receiver.
It makes sense that STARS would prefer simplex with direct radio to radio contact vs going through the trunking system.

I've heard a lot of STARS talking to an LZ officer. Rarely hear the ground radio unless they are close by as they're usually using a portable with its lower power and range.
I haven't heard any traffic on the old VHF provincial common channels in ages.
