I have used 2 scanners but I have 2 inputs on my sound card. I have had limited sucess with scanning multiple freqs. What I usually do is scan the whole bank of ACARS freqs, see which one is getting the most hits, and park the scanner on that freq.

AAaaaahhhh! I have become addicted to ACARSD after I saw it mentioned here.

I am in Connecticut near BDL. I found a list with 136.850 on it for BDL and now I'm getting uplink as well as the downlink stuff. I'm hearing from central NY to off Cape Code to south of NJ.

I'm mapping, logging it, I even have a server running so I can watch it on my laptop.

" .. really honey, all I need is another 2 scanners, a taller mast and a couple more antennas......what?...."

Does ACARSD do HF? Regards.

AirNav has a secal decoder. You can also get secal and hfdl from Skysweeper if your interested in the HF stuff. I'd also recommend AirNav's Suite 4. There's a fee required but it does it all-logging, mapping, DDE from airnav and other brand decoders.

No. The HFDL system is not the same format. There are decoders around, some built into multi-decoder software (Hoka Code300, Skysweeper) others as stand alone progs.

Question. I have several scanners. Since "scanning" with squelch does not work, has anyone tried using more than one radio (for more than 1 ACARS freq.) with Y connector to the audio input? Logicaly seems like it would work, just wondering if anyone has tried it.

With some scanners the ACARS freqs seem to scan well. This will obviously depend on the relative strenghts of the signals near you but I have found that the Win108 and Yupiteru VT125 both work very well scanning the European ACARS freqs. Yupiteru Vt225, MVT7100 and Signal Radio Corp radios have also performed very well though not as good as the first two mentioned. The ones least suited to this technique have been my Pro and Uniden models

I've been using Acarsd for a little while. I'm in the Atlanta area, and while at work I can get the uplinks on a couple of acars freqs. From monitoring several of the freqs around here, I've noticed the different uses of the freqs, and found a couple (I guess) "local use" acars freqs, for example, 136.575 is not listed as an acars freq anywhere but I have logged Delta and a couple other airlines passing terminal messages from Hartsfield. 131.55 is used mostly by the BizJets and smaller airlines in and out and around the Atlanta area, and by International airlines passing by. The uplinks on 131.55 show Arinc passing the aircraft to other freqs for messages, so I guess the acars network works like ATC's passing the aircraft to other controllers as they move thru the area.

136.8 and 136.85 are very active with Delta, UPS, Fedex, and other major carriers, 130.45 is fairly active with a good mix of carriers as well as 130.025. 129.125 is not as active, but still has a good mix of carriers.

Play around with the different acars freqs with what software you like using and see what uses the different freqs have in your area.

Per early post I'm really enjoying FlightAware.com as it's got me going on Air Monitor again.

The Pro95 is said to be good for MilAir but how about Civil Air. (I'm looking for a scanner I can dedicate to Air monitor of all types...)
