You can't share data (or download it) when you have the trial.

Check this and check ALL the boxes and then click "select," then zoom to your location to see if anyone around you is sharing it, and you can even click on there name. If you zoom to north Georgia you will see me (kw)

They do have a trial on the website- check PlanePlotter from COAA

After looking at New York, I don't see any sharing locations (I don't aways share, but I do every afternoon, so I get marked as not). You can still look though

PS- Just use a metal sheet to mount it on the roof, and with 1090MHz, that should be good enough (it will have required size on box) for your ground plane.

The best thing to use with the microADSB is PlanePlotter. It's free.

Are you a registered user? You have to be registered for sharing. The free version will only show local input....from a SBS, radarbox, microadsb, etc.

Yes, but wouldn't you want to share your aircraft with others?

You won't see anything until you have a input for the software (microadsb or acars etc.) ....and you will only see what you are receiving. When you pay the $37, you get all the other users who share info. And if you are in the US, there is a link to see what users are sharing and where they are located.

Yes. The $37 is one time fee. The only extra fee you would pay is $12 or so if you wanted MLATs. if are a master user, which you will be if you use MicroADSB, MLATs are free.

I'd go for the SBS-1Er, they even have a built in UHF milair, and a VHF airband radio built in! They are a little more sensitive then the Airnav radar box, and you don't have to deal with the five minute delay.

None of the currently shipping decoder boxes delay the data anymore.

Doesn't the Airnav have a data uplink delay, though?

What's a data uplink delay ...? The "five minute delay" refers to a feature added to the port 30003 output mechanism by Kinetic. Data in their user interface (BaseStation) was visible in real-time; data exported to other tools was delayed. It was something that Kinetic did voluntarily to ward off being regulated directly by The Authorities. AirNav followed suit when they entered the marketplace with their product and provided an interface for external tools to read the data. Somewhere along the line, everyone decided that it was stupid to do it, and so they both (more or less) dropped the delay in their products.

This was a few years ago; neither product -- nor any of the products that have come out since then -- have this feature.

I always thought if you were using the upload feature on the Airnav program, or using any other external program, Airnav's program would set the five minute delay.

They un-did that a while back, due to competitive pressures (and I hope, in part, due to coming to realize how dumb the idea is). Port 30003 data is presented in real-time.
