Yeah, it's more than I would personally spend, I will need a digital scanner soon as the local county system is going digital within the next few months, but it is pretty neat.
From Radar Box:
Why RadarBox / RadarBox vs Competition
edit.....
RadarBox data sharing Network with an Internet connection
o Share your live aircraft data with the RadarBox Network
o All other RadarBox users can see the aircraft you detecting
o You can see ALL aircraft that ALL other RadarBox users are sharing
o Typically in excess of 1000 aircraft displayed on the Network all over the world
o Separate Network flights aircraft list showing aircraft details
o Option to mark Network flights on the map with “*” symbol
o
For security reasons, Network data is delayed by 5 minutes. This is an internationally recognised standard and reflects a responsible approach to data sharing by AirNav Systems
o ONLY RadarBox has the data sharing Network function provided as part of the software
o Network access is free for the first 12 months, then access costs only 5 Euros per month (current price Spring 2009)
o If you choose not to subscribe to the Network after your free 12 months, all functions of RadarBox continue to work as normal, with the exception that you cannot see data shared by other users on the Network
