I have the book you are talking about. It was written by an amateur operator here in the B'ham area, Mick Lindley. The book was published in 1993, and much of the information on frequencies is no longer accurate, although many of the frequencies are still in use.

Not to be a skeptic but the copyright date is 1993. ALLOT has changed in 11 years here. You may be better off to rely on radio reference and cityfreq.com for your scanner info.
