I am going to be in the area for Thanksgiving and was wondering if there has been any moves to the p25?

Not yet. Everything is still on the existing system. Sometimes the radio techs will have a talkgroup simulcasted between systems but other than that the only thing you will hear on the P25 system are radios and talkgroups being tested. Enjoy your stay!

Speaking of updates:

On firday there was a lot of testing on the system. Logged a bunch of "new" talkgroups with unitrunker. (Not really new, just converted IDs of the existing ones on the Motorola system.) GRU broadband, GRU transmission and distribution, ACSO, and GPD had their TGs simulcasted for a while. Currently I have hits for the following other agencies:

GPD
Shands UF ED
ACSO
UPD
Waldo PD
Santa Fe College PD
Alachua PD
High Springs PD

Also have hits from some of the interagency talkgroups like "Unified Operations"

Some of these are just hits on unitrunker from a radio affiliating to the talkgroup. From my logs on UT not all agencies have had extensive testing. Some are still totally MIA (RTS for example).

At some point I want to post an updated list of the logged talkgroups to the P25 system's page in the database. Does anyone know a real easy way of exporting the talkgroups and labels? So far I have 58 logged TGIDs and need an easy way of dumping them out to a text file.

Thank you for keeping up with the progress!!

Perhaps Excel would be a good way to log the information?

Now that I have a BCD 536HP I can record activity on this new system. I have over 100 hours recorded on this new system (On ID search) with 0 transmissions. Weird.

That is really odd... Unitrunker has logged very little activity on the system over the past few weeks. Mostly random affiliations and a few voice calls. Certainly not 100hrs of voice from what I can see.

The only constant transmissions have been the CWID (TG 65536) which goes over the system as an analog call every 30min. Still the call is only a few seconds long each time, so not enough to log over 100hrs.

Is it the same TGID every time? Are you logging the RIDs as well? I might be able to look through my UT logs if you send me a sample list of what you have. Ill cross reference it with Unitrunker's logs and see if there is anything going on.

Just a thought but what are your squelch settings? Is it possible that it's set way low? Perhaps you get a hit when the analog CWID tx comes across and then the scanner doesn't mute.

I think what he meant was that he left the scanner on log mode for 100 hours with nothing registering, not that he had an object being registered for 100 hours. Anyway, they're doing the same thing Hillsborough county is doing....which is nothing. They leave it running for no reason.

Ah, that would make way more sense!

From looking at my logs it seems the last time there was any unencrypted voice calls (or any really) was back on 1/23 when HSPD radios were talking on the system. Since then ~15 days there have only been a handful of encrypted HSPD calls and 2 other clear calls on 1/30. So it looks like you aren't missing anything.

Its kinda strange actually. Since I've been monitoring the system (since early Sept) this is the longest period that has gone by with virtually no activity. In the past GPD/ACSO/HSPD and even some of the GRU TGs would have days where all of their comms were simulcasted from the current system. Ill just keep watching and logging (and saving up for a new uniden :) )

Correct, zero transmissions after over 100 hours of recording. :D

BTW, the 536 sounds good on the Motorola system they use now. Little lag at beginning of transmissions, but nothing major.

Sorry for the confusion!!

And thank you for your continued monitoring of the new system! I keep hoping to hear some comms about the new system but I have had no luck, not even an mention about it.

41 transmissions overnite, all TG 2057 which is GPD1.

The BCD536HP sounds great on the new system.

Has this been implemented? Is the Alachua County/Gainesville system encrypted?

The new system is still under development and has not been rolled out for primary use. I have logged several encrypted talkgroups on the new system but they are no different than the encrypted ones used on the current system. When ACSO and GPD have been simulcasted through the new P25 system their primary talkgroups have been in the clear.

What is the current status of the system? Is this going to be a P25 Phase 1 or Phase 2 if anyone happens to know.

Thanks for your patience.

Any updates on this system? I'd run pro96com but I only have a handheld and batteries are expensive. Any new RID's affiliating? Any system managers/techs on this forum?

Seems like a waste of tax dollars to put up a system and not use it.

I use Nimh rechargeable AA's, new eneloops can be recharged 1000's of times. :)

With that said, I have not monitored, I will give it a go tomorrow and let you know if I hear anything.

Yeah I decided to just go ahead and use up my batteries (lithium AA's) nothing even happening in the past 3 days, only a one time forced affiliation (whatever that means).

Got 5 Audio files over night. One was unknown TG 2147, but when I multiply that by 16 its 34352 which is ASO Primary. The other 4 hits were TG 3637 "Patch to high spgs PD".
