Can a moderator/administrator or someone knowledgeable please explain to me what "Type: Inherited (System)" means in simple terms I can understand? Specifically, the Marion County Florida Public Safety P25 data has four simulcast sites listed, however, two of them have no sites shown on the map and are listed as "Type: Inherited (System)". I am able to find control channels for only the two other sites within the county which leads me to believe the inherited listings are inaccurate/incorrect. Please help me understand why the two inherited sites are even listed?

Sorry if this is not the correct place to ask this question.

Thanks,
N4HFA (confused database user)

This is exactly the forum to ask this question. The system can't be displayed without location data.
What has likely happened is that there are two unknown site locations. Those two sites have "inherited" the county boundaries that the Database Administrator determined are appropriate for the county area. So, the centre of Marion County is the de facto data point.

If someone is inclined, they could do a road trip and check out towers. When you see a likely location, remove the scanner antenna and see which site is full strength. Note the co-ordinates with GPS data. Submit the findings to improve the accuracy of the trunk system.

Hate to use a cliche but until more work is done, "it is what it is"
