Here is the audio from the Coast Guard of the Mayday call from the Alaska Ranger that sank 120 miles west of Dutch Harbor, Alaska. Crew was 47 persons with 4 dead and 1 missing. The audio sounds like it was on HF-SSB and not VHF.

The Mayday call was made on 2182 KHz and answered by USCG COMMSTA KODIAK.

Spent 20 years in the Coast Guard and pretty much all of it in 32* to 28* waters. Voice from that Tx is now a spirit. Brave Cap'n to get his crew all safe while he perished.
