Hello all. Listning last night and TGID 34000 came up. This is not listed in the database, but all the 34000's are associated with alb. county police. Has anyone else seen this, if so what exactly is it?

Tg 34000

Nitsud, I believe that what you saw was one the of the Albe. Co Detective TG's. It was probably encrypted or garbled wasn't it? That's my best guess, given that the Detectives won't allow those TG's to be listed. That's my $0.02

Interesting thread. I didn't know that we were honoring requests from local departments to exclude data, but that thread does contain the very good point that we invite increased encryption by posting some of the more sensitive stuff.

It also contains the even BETTER point that we could all spend some time in search mode, open/ID search trunking mode, etc. It's not like this stuff is all that hard to find.

Nitsud, I congratulate you for searching around and listening for new stuff.

Andrew, I'm curious about the source of your statement that APD detectives won't allow their TG's to be listed. Do you mean that you've gotten an exnay from somebody on RR, or that these TG's weren't included in all of the (apparently) inside information that the RR database has on that system?

Yeah I will have to look it up but the only thing they will exclude is Federal and Millitary systems/talkgroups/freqs, etc. and that is done upon request. I also think it has to do with the Database admin that is handling it (as far as the example that was given). Many many of the systems in VA have detectives, swat, etc listed. We have covert operations listed on some (and I have listened and they are quite covert, with stings, etc being handled on them).

I don't think 34000 is a "sensitive" talkgroup. They've broadcast lookouts, etc. on it. I'm thinking maybe it's an "all talkgroup" (ATG).

I should note that I haven't heard this talkgroup used that much, so maybe we should continue listening before coming to a definite conclusion about what it is.

Guys,

I was not sure if this was a detective tg or not. I know that I have talked to several detectives, I don't remember their names, that have said that those channels are encrypted and will not be released to the public. They did however say that, if the information is listed on this kind of a site, than so be it. In other words, NO ONE has told me to have anything removed from any database.

Also, I spoke with the Deputy Chief of the Charlottesville Fire Dept, by the end of 2008, the fire dispatch frequency 46.460 will be eliminated. They will be going to uhf. Probably to 155.835 which is currently the rescue squads dispatch frequency. Plans are still in the works. I will update you as I get more info. In fact, the deputy chief said that he is a member of this site!
So, Britt Grimm, if you read this, hello!

That's my $0.02

Hi everybody: I've been so busy with work lately I haven't had much time for scanning or forum reading. I have noticed something recently however. I usually take the scanner on my nightly dog walks, 20-30 minutes, and scan my "ALL" group which includes all of the city/county PD and fire/rescue trunk groups. Sometimes I can go the whole walk and never hear anything on a PD tg, but I do hear the fire/ems calls. That just should not be, especially on a Saturday night! Makes me wonder if the PD groups have all changed?

Right now (08:40) there is activity on County Tac 2 talking about some escaped cows.

EDIT: works better when you remember to unlock the tg :(

BTW, I see the tg 1872 listed as radio techs, that may have been a testing phase because this morning I heard various water plants calling in safety checks on it. Crozet, Observatory, Scottsville. It is analog.

I need to update my Albemarle banks.
