Radio New Zealand is easy to pick up on 7440 kHz. It starts at 13:00Z. (Which is morning in North America. 6 AM Pacific,--9 AM Eastern). They broadcast for five hours, seven days a week with English programing.

Even in normal conditions they have a good signal. I listen to them quite often. They were +10 dB this morning. I was using a loop, but you don't need anything elaborate.

It's an easy one to get in the log if you're relatively new to short wave.

Skip wave, sky wave, propagation is a funny thing and is very pin pointy, the band can be closed in my neighborhood and open in yours (province).
