I pressed the knob to higher the volume and it appeared to reset to default!!, now when my scanner powers on it says it is a X30EGR and now is a portable boardcast/hamband receiver!!! and no longer a wide-band receiver!!! What can I do?

Many thanks

It's in Greek mode.

Turn radio on
Hold FUNC key for 2 seconds to turn on key-lock
Enter the following #'s 040813
The numbers won't be displayed on the screen
The radio will turn off and back on again in European mode

Sorry, I'm 61 years of age (in the UK) and new to radio so have looked for new thread but can't find it. I have just bought an Alinco DJ-X30E and am experiencing problems/queries.

a) I downloaded the software and went to run it. and got a message in Japanese!!! Has anyone run the software successfully? If so can you tell me where it was downloaded from and when run are there instructions on its use?

b) I had to change the setting to 8.33 kHz for airband. The manual says the default is auto but if settings are changed ALL bands revert to the new setting. Does this mean that each time I go to a different band I have to reset it to 25 kHz (or whatever the spacing is)? If I do this, will my already 8.33kHz entered frequencies remain on that setting? Sorry to be a pain but as a newbie I find it all confusing.

John,

Damn. I just sold my DJ-X30E so I don't have it in front of me . I had it as a backup radio and used it just for testing. I don't know how qualified I am to offer advice, but I don't think too many people on here own these. So I thought I would throw out some general thoughts.

The software is available in English from the Alinco website . Copy/paste the link below into your browser. Look on the left hand side and scroll down to the "Communication Receiver" section. Click on the "DJ-X30" link. Once you are in that window, the software download link is near the bottom of the page.

On the spacing, I believe it is necessary to change the spacing/steps when you change bands. However, your 8.33kHz frequencies should remain as entered.

Jim

P.S. Age is unimportant. We all try to help each other out on this site, even across the pond Guvnor! (My poor attempt at cockney humor)

Thanks for your reply Jim but I believe you forgot the link!!!

Although I'm Welsh I worked in North London for a while with some cockneys and so cockney is my only language apart from English!!!

Thanks again.

John
