Hi, I am looking to see if there are any other apps available for Android for control for bcd536 besides Uniden Siren. Siren wont install on my cell as Google wont allow it to install (I am running Android 15). I know I can remotely control my bcd536 scanner using Proscan, but I don't carry my laptop when I am driving. My scanner is under my car seat and no accessible when driving. I am hoping that others on here have figured out a workaround. I am hoping to use my cell as a remote control for the scanner. I am hoping a few of you might have ideas or have figured out a way to control your scanner using Android. Another idea I have had is buying a old Iphone and installing the Siren app on it and running my 536 using it but not activating the Iphone except using it as a remote control. I prefer using my existing Android cell.

Thanks for ideas and suggestions.

I recommend an old iPhone. I use iPhone 4 and 12 and I think it works with any IOS version. I bough the 4 for $20 ten years ago and the 12 for $100 a couple of months ago.The Siren app have some additional feature using iPhone that doesn't exists in the Android version. If Using Siren with Android you will have to use Android 5 or something like that to have full control over the scanner and maybe up to 7 or 8 if only listening, or it will occasionally stop working using higher versions.

You can take a look at this project. I have misplaced my OTG cable so cannot test. SDSRemoteDisplay Android App

FYI, I used this app when I was mobile yesterday. I tethered my phone as a hotspot, then used my 536 in infrastructure mode to connect to my Android cell phone. Then I entered the IP address reported by the 536 into the app when I started it up. Works well and easy to see. I didn't detect any errors

Yesterday I received a used Dongle for my 536 that's in my pickup. I couldn't get it to connect to the android app, but it would initially connect to my house wifi router. Proscan wouldn't connect to the dongle either, even after rebooting the scanner, router, laptop and cell phone. I finally figured it out in case others have the same thing happening. I went to the Uniden site and downloaded firmware update for the dongle version 7.28. My dongle was at version 4 something, and after the update to the dongle firmware it connects to my cell phone using the android app and controls the 536, same as my 536 in my car (the dongle version on it is also 7.28 from the factory). I had bought the used Dongle from eBay and it just needed the dongle firmware updated.
