Hi All
Kinda strange early this evening one hour before sunset..all kinds of low power stations from all directions were booming in here (Sacramento). Also..more Northeast paths, too; for instance KERR Polson MT 1KW very good copy here even over the top of KXL 50KW Portland!! Been happening last three nights...How's it soundin' for anyone else listenin?
Also..thanx for the info regarding the DX organizations, Ka3jjz!!!!

I just got a old sansui outboard tuner fixed up, after a friend and I cleaned up an old house that was for sale...

It didnt even turn on when I got it to the shed, the wires from the transformer to the board were worn away, replaced them, a capacitor was blown...replaced it (the Bright blue one in the second pic)....and it needed some serious adjustment (tuning). I guess it got hit by lightning...but It works now, also the Florescent blub display doesnt show properly, which is weird because it shows 0, 1, 3, 7, 8, but not the missing digits which are on the same path to show, maybe ......???

it was KERR 750 KHZ Polson MT
All kinds of Canadian stuff all over the dial..usually some but tonight they've been comin' outa the woodwork!!
Regarding the other low power stuff earlier..I heard many including KRKC 1490 King City. Easy for you at your "20"possibly but never before for me. I used to do a nine station syndicated ( kinda) thing.. they ran it, but I never could hear it from here. Lots and lots of low power stuff from everywhere.
Gotta go put water into my "maintenance -free battery." adios

All We got here on 780 is KKOH Reno's Big 'ol big one. (Coast to Coast AM at night) Now and then I can null 'em ehough to hear a Canadian Religious station, but otherwise deff here for DX on 780.
By the way...the deep voiced announcer on "Coast" is a guy named Ross Mitchell..works mornings at KKOH. Very funny guy!!
Love them old Sansui tuners, too...put a long "wire" on the AM Ant. lug...and ya got it made!!

Well there was a commercial, something to do with RadioSpirits.com, and just heard WBBM 780! They seems to be playing Halloween movies or shows??? Kinda cool

Yeah I have a basic Loop from a surround sound system, surprisingly this loop is about 3in bigger than normal stereo loops is actually shielded from the factory! Ive never seen an oddball loop like this one, ill be playing with more antennas later, but this loops seems to be doing a wonder

Have heard those commercials..the company is "Radio Spirits" olde time radio programs.
Now...all ya have to do is figure out who's was runnin the commercial!!

Lived in Toledo Area few years..and it was good radio ...So much good stuff in midwest and down into Tennessee, etc!!
California Radio isn't what it used to be...you're not missin a thing!!

Hey Ernie what's the scoop on that Sansui-is it a killer DXer? I have never seen it before it looks like a stereo component but you put it in your shack like a comm rcvr?

ridge, its better than a normal am radio, but Im sure its nothing compaired to a R75...lol. Yeah I call them outboard tuners because you have to plug it into an amp, or home Rcvr, I have it plugged into my computer...that way I can record some really interesting stuff.

Speakin' of Loops and other types of Antennas..has anyone had experience with the "Select-a- Tenna"
or the "Turk" .or???. Had a Select-a- Tenna Way way in the past..and it worked pretty well.
See a few old ones around at estate sales, etc..ya know, the sales where people look at 33 rpm records and
say.."hey, Mom...look at those big cd's!!" Shortwavewave your post made me think about those loops..so lookin' forward to seein yours!!

Well Charlie I got a video for that too I have a lot of fun AM DXing with this loop-the old Select-A-Tenna sometimes it does better than the roof antenna as in the video!

Ridgescan.. figgured you had a video for that, too; just kiddin 'cause I really enjoy your stuff and enthusiasm etc.. The old "select-a-tenna" always looked kinda cool sitten' there.
Hey,,get this: Ran into a guy today said he had an old radio that got wet and was shot..but I could take it if I needed parts, etc. So..tonight I'm listenin' on a Zenith Royal 3000 -1 that filled my shop vac
with rat poop now weighs 1 1/2 pounds lighter. Packed her full of baking soda ( in an old sock) to kill the smell, and fired
her up..works like a champ!! Nice to have something "vernier" tuning-wise, and the 'ol girl sure sounds good. Smellin better by the minute, too!! 880 KRVN Lex. NE comin in 5x5 and wall to wall you'all!

Gees I got one of them too!! I have a 1959 my uncle bought new in downtown Chicago still runs like hell! You got a good one they are such a classy blast of radio past huh?

Yep..they were still building real radios back then huh?!! Needs a band-select knob..but she pulls them stations out of the mud in grand fashion. My 909 has a narrow filter ( kinda) to attenuate adjascent station interference, but the Zenith has better ears by comparison.
My humble hulme here is full of RFI from satellite and cable boxes etc. and #@$%^@!& buzzin' security lights, .but the Zenith rejects the noise much better than the 909. Interesting , but I'm sure glad!!
