Hi Bryan_Herbert and all people DX'n
regarding 1700khz..I'm hearing ( 9:45 PM ) a simulcast of the Padres game also heard on XX 1090.
This XX1090 is the same station basically as years ago XERB home of Wolfman Jack in those days. Went to the transmitter site in 1967...it was in Rosarita, Baja CA. In a steel quanset hut, and I swear..the jackrabbits were runnin in and out , hitting the exposed copper conductors, a'poppin and crackin'. They were runnin 250,000 watts..and the headlights on the cars parked nearby glowed from all the RF. The people working in the transmitter building had to be driven away a few miles to rest, and clear their heads every few hours!!! They started looking like they were experiencing "diabetic shock-like"symptoms, and then I'd see em being thrown into the cars..and driven away. Soon they'd return, ready to go back to work. Sounds crazy..but I really saw it!!!
Havent heard this simulcast on 1700 ever before..the only other sports format stations are located in Texas and Iowa. at 1KW power each.
So..the "jury is out" on what in the heck we're hearing on 1700.
