I'm looking at a new/replacement mobile. I need the following features:
Banks to store memories
Alphatags more than 6 characters ability to display
Dual band with wide receiver
CTCSS encode and decode
AIRCRAFT AM recieve
Separate head
2.5k tuning
No chineese junk

Does anyone make such a radio? DM710 maybe but I can't find out if you can set up to display In lieu of frequency. There are reasons for being so particular

I travel to 3 states frequently. I am in public safety so I monitor alot. I work alot of repeaters. I have no space for a dash mount.
I am a fan of yaesu and have used a 7900 forever but it does not have some features I'm looking for.
The newer stuff has no banks yet 1000 memories. I just don't get that.
I think my only choice is commercial gear

The Kenwood TM-D710 displays frequency and channel name, if there is one, simultaneously.

But, the TM-D710 doesn't have 2.5 kHz steps.

Probably. I believe that the Kenwood NX-5000 line has what you need...except for the AM aircraft band receive.

Have you looked at the Kenwood TM-V71A? Might want to take a look...

1000 = Banks to store memories

6 charcater = Alphatags more than 6 characters ability to display

True two reciever - Dual band with wide receiver

Yes, even CTCSS FREQuency ID to find it for you - CTCSS encode and decode

118 ~ 524 MHz —
136 ~ 524 MHz —
800 ~ 1300 MHz
(K type: excluding cellular band) -
AIRCRAFT AM recieve

Detachable Front Panel Kit (3 m) - Separate head

Why? - 2.5k tuning

Displays frequency or channel name, but not both simultaneously.
Why? - 2.5k tuning
To properly tune VHF Part 90 frequencies that are on 7.5 kHz channel separation. VHF Part 90 frequencies were on 15 kHz separation, but narrow-banding moved them to 7.5 kHz.

The Yaesu FT-400XDR ticks all the boxes except banks and 2.5 kHz step size.

Displays frequency or channel name, but not both simultaneously.

Simultaneously displaying freq & name was not in the OP list. If space is a concern, then the V71 meets the needs. (The D710 exceeds them, which is not always a bad thing.)

True.

However, neither the TM-V71 nor TM-D710 have 2.5 kHz (or 7.5 kHz) frequency tuning steps which was on the OP's list.
